AOL has responded to TechCrunch editor Michael Arrington's ultimatum – that the parent company restore TechCrunch's editorial independence or sell it back to Arrington – by dismissing him from the company.

Arrington made his demand after AOL said he could not be the editor of a tech blog and take money from tech investors at the same time.
