Apple's iPhone Developers Are Very Happy (AAPL)

At Apple's WWDC last week, Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster surveyed 45 developers to get their take on iOS, Android, and other mobile platforms.

Bottom line: Apple's developers are very happy with the platform. The tools for making apps are better from Apple than anyone else, they say. And monetizing their apps is easier on iOS than it is on Android.

This is important because Android has been eating up marketshare. As it becomes the dominant mobile platform, it's easy to see developers flocking to Android at the sake of iOS to serve the larger customer base.

For now, it seems like iOS developers are happiest with Apple, so that's not happening.

Also of note in this survey: Developers think the iOS platform has more potential for growth than Android.

(Of course, this survey is biased since it comes from an all Apple conference, but the general point stands.)

Here are the results of Munster's survey of developers:

Happy Birthday Twitter. Yes, You’re Awesome. Now Back To Work (On Search And Archives)

I woke up this morning and my Twitter stream looked like a Facebook Wall on a teenager's birthday. "Happy birthday, Twitter!" "Twitter, you're the best, happy bday!" "Can't believe you're five Twitter!" These messages came in fast and furious from folks in the tech sphere, folks not in the tech sphere, celebrities, Twitter employees. On and on and on. And that's great. Twitter is awesome. Even if you're unwilling to admit that it has changed the world, there's no denying that it has drastically changed the tech landscape and the way information is created and consumed. And it continues to do so. So yes, happy birthday, Twitter. And now it's time to get back to work.

Happy GIS Day 2010!

Yesterday I reminded our readers that it's the Geography Awareness Week, which was introduced in 1987, but it doesn't stop there, today is GIS Day!

Happy GIS Day everyone...

A reminder: "GIS Day is held each year in the third week of November, on the Wednesday during Geography Awareness Week, a geographic literacy initiative sponsored by the National Geographic Society. [...] [from the about:] More than 80 countries will participate in holding local events such as corporate open houses, hands-on workshops, community expos, school assemblies, and more."
