Chart Of The Day: Steve Jobs Leaves, Apple's Stock Soars (aapl)

Since Steve Jobs left his post as CEO of Apple, the stock has taken off, rising 10%. Somewhat surprising, since you would think the stock would tank after the company lost its visionary leader.

Apple is trading at an all time high, closing today at $413. The company's market cap is $390, and it will soon be over $400 billion, giving it a very good chance to be worth more than Google and Microsoft combined.

But, the Jobs situation was hanging over the stock, keeping it in a holding pattern. With him out, that uncertainty is out of the way.

Also holding the stock in check -- the company deviated from its normal pattern by not releasing a new iPhone this summer. The next iPhone launch is expected in weeks, which is getting investors excited.

Another Reason You Don't Need To Be Worried About Apple's Download Only Lion OS (AAPL)

onlive macbook air 400 30

If you have concerns about Lion being download-only, you shouldn't.

Apple has designed a system called "Internet Recovery" that will download and install OS X Lion even if your hard drive fails or somehow gets wiped. From Apple's site:

[Internet Recovery] downloads and starts Lion Recovery directly from Apple servers over a broadband Internet connection. And your Mac has access to the same Lion Recovery features online. Internet Recovery is built into every newly-released Mac starting with the Mac Mini and MacBook Air.

If you're absolutely paranoid and want a hard copy of Lion, Apple will sell it to you on a USB drive for $70.

Everything You Need To Know About Apple's Rumored TV Set (AAPL)

steve jobs itv apple tv

As we approach September and all those eagerly-anticipated Holiday gadget announcements, rumors have started up again that Apple is working on its own television set.

We've thought for a whole that an Apple-branded TV was the next obvious step for the company. and thanks to some leaked details a few weeks ago, it seems more and more likely to happen.

We put together everything we know about Apple's television set right here. Click below to check out the latest rumors.

The launch will coincide with the iPhone 5's in September (Maybe)

Some analysts think Apple will announce the television this fall when it announces the iPhone 5. That would be around the same time that the second Apple TV was announced, and just in time for the Holidays.

It will run the same OS as the current Apple TV

The television will run iOS, just like the current Apple TV does. Think of it as Apple TV without the box.

You'll be able to download apps from the App Store (Likely)

This is something many have been waiting for. The Apple TV set may finally allow developers to create apps for the platform. Google TV will be getting access to the Android Market, so it makes sense for Apple to do the same. Plus, who doesn't want to play Angry Birds in their living room?

Apple's Final Cut Is Dead. Long Live Final Cut

Apple’s Final Cut Pro is the leading video-editing program. It’s a $1,000 professional app. It was used to make “The Social Network,” “True Grit,” “Eat Pray Love” and thousands of student movies, independent films and TV shows. According to the research firm SCRI, it has 54 percent of the video-editing market, far more than its rivals from Adobe and Avid.

Did I use the present tense? Sorry about that. Final Cut was the industry leader. It did cost $1,000. But that’s all over now.

Apple's iPhone Developers Are Very Happy (AAPL)

At Apple's WWDC last week, Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster surveyed 45 developers to get their take on iOS, Android, and other mobile platforms.

Bottom line: Apple's developers are very happy with the platform. The tools for making apps are better from Apple than anyone else, they say. And monetizing their apps is easier on iOS than it is on Android.

This is important because Android has been eating up marketshare. As it becomes the dominant mobile platform, it's easy to see developers flocking to Android at the sake of iOS to serve the larger customer base.

For now, it seems like iOS developers are happiest with Apple, so that's not happening.

Also of note in this survey: Developers think the iOS platform has more potential for growth than Android.

(Of course, this survey is biased since it comes from an all Apple conference, but the general point stands.)

Here are the results of Munster's survey of developers:
