Watch Youtube Videos With Your Friends Using Google+ (goog)

Google+ users can now watch YouTube videos with up to 9 of their friends in a live Google+ Hangout, and can comment on the video as it plays.

Google already had this feature for live YouTube events, but yesterday the company quietly added the feature for all YouTube videos. It's another great example of how Google can use its vast Internet empire to add features to Google+ that Facebook can't easily duplicate.

You can share YouTube videos on Facebook today, but there's no equivalent to Hangouts, so no way to live-share with multiple friends.

Here's how you do it:

1. First, you have to be a Google+ member.

2. Click the "Share" button on any YouTube video.

3. On the right, there will be a link that says "Start a Google Hangout." Click it, and a window llke the one below launches. The commands on the window are pretty clear -- push the green button to talk, or just kick back and watch.

zMooth is a useful root application that replaces your hardware buttons with gestures

zMooth is an app for rooted Android phones that lets you swipe and drag to activate features now accessible via your hardware buttons (back, menu, home, and search).

The app utilize swipes in the blue box that appears at the bottom of your screen, and they work almost like commands in the "gesture area" on the Palm Pre. 

Included commands: swipe left for Back, swipe right for Menu, and draw an up-arrow for Home.

How Can This App Be Your Online Photo Hub If It Only Shows Facebook Friends?

It seems like everyone has a photo app now. But unless you sign up for them all, you're going to miss out on something.

That's the gap the Photofeed iPhone app from Pixable attempts to fill. It aggregates photos from Facebook, Instagram, and Flickr into feeds so you can see the photos that matter most to you.

The app shows you photos it deems are the most popular based on factors such as upload date, likes, and comments. Photos are displayed in an attractive grid system that makes it easy to swipe through them and even comment or tag people.

But there's one huge downside. Pixable's developers told us they are focusing heavily on Facebook, which shows in the app. There's no way to link your Instagram, Flickr, Hipstamatic, or any other photo sharing account to Pixable.

It's nice to see popular public photos, but the app would be more relevant if you could view photos from friends on other networks too.

That being said, we're told the developers will be taking advantage of more services in future updates, so there's a lot of potential for Photofeed to become the only app you need to share and view photos.

Path Will Tell You Which Facebook Friends You Actually Like

Path, the photo-sharing app limited to 50 users and started by Facebook star Dave Morin, is introducing a new feature called FriendRank.

FriendRank crawls through your Facebook info and determines through your data, like interactions, photo tags, etc., who of your friends is worth enough to be among the 50 you'll share with on Path.

It's easy to make fun of this, but it's actually a good idea to make the onboarding process easier for new users. 50 is a small number but it's also a big number. Most people could name the 5 people they care about the most without hesitation, but when you're trying to make a list of 50, that can be hard. Path's FriendRank can help with that.

The company is also introducing a money-making feature called Lenses. Lenses are filters you can apply to your photos, like on Instagram, the über-popular anti-Path. Some Lenses will be free but some will be for sale within the app. That should be an interesting experiment into virtual goods if nothing else.
