Media6Degrees (M6D) is a socially targeted advertising startup based in NYC's Union Square. It has raised $26 million from investors and it is on a tear.
The company has rapidly grown to 110+ clients, 70+ employees, and it recently acquired a new floor of office space.
Media6Degrees threw a party to celebrate its expansion and CEO Tom Phillips invited us to join.
After spending a day and night with the startup, we found Media6Degrees to be refreshingly fun; it has a company band, a spirited kickball team, and lovable pooch roaming the cubicles.

Imagine if your real life was like your online life.
You'd walk up to people you barely knew and ask them if they want to be your friend -- and try to convince them by showing them your photos. You would walk around to objects and people and put little "Like" signs on them. You'd wear your relationship status on your sleeve -- literally. And when you followed people you'd really follow them.
Here, see for yourself:

Look At How Strange Your Online Life Is
Now that every mobile app under the sun has check-ins, mobile/location/social startups need to evolve to stand out.
Foursquare, for example, has been playing up its "tips" feature, trying to become more of a connected city guide.
And now rival Loopt has a new, similar feature, based on Q&A, another hot Internet sector.
Launching soon in the San Francisco area, and later nationwide, Loopt's new "Qs" is a real-time Q&A feature that lets you ask questions and quickly get answers about a place.
Such as: What's the best menu item here? How's the parking situation? Where's the best public bathroom near this park? What's the wifi password? Etc.
The big idea is to get people using location apps for more than checking in, and to get more people contributing content to the service, not just looking it up.
We'll see if it gives Loopt -- which claims 5 million sign-ups -- a boost.
Here's what it looks like:

And here's a video explaining how it works:
