Comment on The Internet of Things [Infographic] by Björn

Nice infographic! :) One thing stands out a bit though: "By the end of 2011, 20 typical households will be generating more traffic than the entire Internet in 2008." That looks very improbable to me, to say the least...

Om, thank you very much for posting this today, it made my day ... I was feeling a bit down after reading one of Paul Kedrosky's dystopian blog posts!

INFOGRAPHIC: The Most Popular Ways To Chat

Last week’s Facebook Video Calling and Google+ Hangout announcements were just the latest in what seems like a string of massive developments in the digital communications space in recent months. In addition to the video chat services from our two beloved Internet behemoths, this Spring brought us the acquisition of Skype by Microsoft, surveys showing a dramatic increase in Internet phone calls, reports calling out VoIP as the fastest growing industry in the US, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. All signs are pointing to 2011 as a watershed year for web-based voice and video services.

One of this year’s biggest online communication developments was T-Mobile’s launch of its Vivox-powered Bobsled Facebook application, which was the the first truly integrated voice chat app to appear on the social network. Not only does Bobsled let you call to ANY of your Facebook friends instantly- regardless of whether they’ve downloaded the application or not- but its initial iteration let users talk from within the site’s chat window, which is present on any page a user might be visiting on the site.

In concert with the Bobsled launch, Vivox conducted a survey on consumer use of digital communications services and their demand for VoIP within social networks in particular. Some of the results were quite compelling; compelling enough to serve as the basis of this infographic which shows visually the potential for voice chat in our newly social-ized world. In light of this week’s news, the graphic takes on even greater meaning.

Pixable’s ‘Life Of A Facebook Photo’ (Infographic)

It's tough to beat my colleague Alexia Tsotsis' witty 'What Mobile Photo Sharing App Should I Use' infographic. Today Pixable, a startup that develops sleek social photo creation and categorization tools for Facebook and other photo sharing sites, is releasing its own photo sharing infographic focused on photo-sharing and the 'hard knock' life of a photo on Facebook. Pixable’s service, which has 800,000 users, allows people to use of all their Facebook and image sharing site photo content like captions, tagging information, comments, and birthdays to make albums, slideshows, calendars and nor artwork. Pixable’s browser-based simplifies the creation of albums, making it easy to use for anyone. One of Pixable's early applications was a nifty tool that allows you to make mosaics of your Facebook photos.

Mobile E-Commerce Shoppers Revolution: Infographic

Nick Martin, Online Community Manager, Microsoft Tag, just pinged us about the infographic the Microsoft Tag team has posted to help you learn about the growth of mobile e-commerce, including how people are shopping on their phones, how many retailers have mobile sites (it's astonishingly small, considering over half of smartphone users would buy something from a mobile site), and which demographic makes purchases on their phones the most.

Comment on Infographic: The Selling Power of the iPad by Brett

I love my windows convertable tablet. Has come in handy and still performs better than the ipad in some situations since it has a digitizer. Microsoft just seemed hung up on the idea that a tablet should run a full fledged OS. At the time it was obvious that MS did not have the software to run a barebones OS readily available. Apple decided to run its iOS on an tablet, thus creating a great tablet OS that many people doubted would work (including myself). Loving my windows tablet, I picked up the ipad on day one. It was alright at first, but as the app market grew and diversified it has really helped the iPad meet nearly all of my educational and business needs. So there you go laughing boy, thats how MS and nearly every other company missed it. As for the article, who are those 10% that are not aware of an iPad?

Does this infographic show iOS as iPhone only? Because you should count in iPod touches and iPad as well. Those devices buy stuff from AppStore as well, and should count as well. And with them, the graphic looks different.

Comment on Infographic: How Android Is Taking Over by srb

The "where are they coming from" chart does not show India. Considering the volumes of phones sold there, I would be curious to know whats the Android uptake like. Personally it seems to me a lot of folks are picking up the different Samsung Galaxy flavors.
