I agree with some of these (especially wireless sync), but I don't know if they will ever change the lock screen much. I understand some people wanting it, but isn't the point of a lock screen so strangers CAN'T look at your appointments and mail? It's the gate that stops strangers from getting at your private information (hence the "lock"). Granted, I don't password protect my phone, and I wouldn't mind having my information handy up front, but Apple likes to have one story that it tells its customers and fiddling with widgets on a lock screen would, I believe, complicate that story.

I am very interested in how to scale. Can you also address scaling without VC money? I know it might sound crazy, but if you scale a business without VC for a while the valuations get much better. Every $1 million in sales creates anywhere between 2x and 20x in value.

Thinking != following pre-defined rules only
Context != programmed categories with pre-defined attributes
What you describe is just location based categorization. No thinking from the app required, nor context. In a simple case context augments data to make them useful, not required here since it's pre-defined.

Kevin, there is software for Symbian called GSM Navigator which works similar to Locale but can also work based on the cell sites you are accessing so that it doesn't drain the battery like GPS does. It can switch profiles, launch applications, send messages based on your location and when you enter/exit a locale. There's a lot you can do if you find the right app but there is not just one app store for Symbian.

It may very well happen and I expect it will only because Apple needs to stay ahead of the rest. I just played with a Samsung galaxy tab and it's already better then an Ipad. The original ipad needs a camera and much more to stem the huge tides of new tablets about to hit.

Curious why you don't care for HootDroid? I find HootSuite to be the most versatile, feature-filled Twitter client, more so than Seesmic or TweetDeck. I dare say you may have not discovered all of its features.

While every upgrade people expect apple to invent the wheel, usually what happens is that they add a minor change, and the Ipad 2 isn't different.
I think it will have the same exact design.
1) front camera
2) more memory
3) gyro
4) maybe less wight.
no new touch.
no usb connector ( that will ruin apple way of doing things.)
This is the the new ipad, nothing more then that.

I would stay away from Battery Geek. The worst customer service. Check out Tekkeon battery packs. I ordered two from newegg and has been working out well for my Asus netbook and cell phone.

i would disagree with the statement from metroPCS about what their customers are looking for. i am quite familiar with the retail environment in both metroPCS and cricket retail stores. high end smartphones(usually flashed(converted) from verizon or sprint) are not only in very high demand(far beyond the supply) plus prepaid customers are easily willing to pay in the $400 - $700 range for used phones. that is something very different from the major carriers.
the reality is that metro's leapfroging of 3G means that for now at least customers are unable to use fast data on the phones they can easily obtain(new or used phones flashed from spring or verizon) and are instead limited to either metro's limited 4G selection or using WIFI only for data.

Or, you could have simply called customer service (800) 922-0204 and asked to be disconnected "because the service was too expensive" or "because (other carrier) offered me a better deal."
Of course, disconnected numbers can't be ported, so (other carrier) will have to give you a new number.
Sure, they'll give some "save" offers, like changing plans, discounts on equipment, converting to a mobile broadband plan, but those are part of the metrics that determine how much they paid- as are percentage of disconnects.
Or, as mentioned previously, just set up service with (other carrier) and port the VZW number- and follow up to make sure your VZW line is actually disconnected- and don't wait weeks or months to follow through (that's called "C your own A").
Picking a fight with a sales person is always a pointless exercise, be it cell phones or used cars or microwave ovens.

Widgets!
Why can't iOS have widgets like it does on Mac OSX and on Android. You shouldn't have to find the settings app then go into wireless and turn on wireless or bluetooth or airplane mode. A simple widget (that looks like an icon) that you can tap on like a switch on the homescreen would be great.

I agree that flexibility is one of the major perks. For example, yesterday morning I had a major headache and just could not concentrate as much as I wanted so I decided to take an early and long lunch break. Instead of forcing myself to work when I was less than productive, I was able to take that time to relax and then work some extra time in the evening. I appreciate the "give and take".

Assuming you can be sincere with yourself, tracking time in Excel and then calculating how much time you have spent on various activities during the day can be a big help. The objective should be to reduce that time with every passing day. For instance when you start a new activity for the first time you may take more than 60 minutes to complete it due to various distractions and lack of focus. You should know that you can decrease this time. The next time you try you make it within 60 minutes and as you proceed it becomes a sort of a game, a challenge. Although this "action days" activity can be productive too.
