Apple Is Recalling Verizon iPad 2s [REPORT] (AAPL, VZ)
Apple has issued a recall for Verizon iPad 2's.
Apple Store employees have been instructed to scan iPad 2 stocks for Verizon iPads that fall under a certain range of serial numbers and return them, 9to5 Mac reports.
The iPads are having problems viewing and editing account information after activating with Verizon's network.
This isn't the first problem with Verizon iPads. Earlier this spring several users had problems connecting to the carrier's 3G network.

Verizon Won't Be Selling Any More 4G Phones Until The Network Is Working Again (VZ)
UPDATE 2: Verizon will not be able to activate phones and devices that use its 4G network until its fixed again.
This news comes a day before the network is about to launch its second 4G phone, Samsung's DROID Charge.
Here's the full statement from Verizon:
We are aware of an issue with 4G LTE data connections and our network engineers are working to resolve this quickly. We have determined the cause of our issue and are working with our major vendors to restore connections.
- 4G LTE smartphones will still be able to make calls.
- Customers are temporarily unable to activate any 4G LTE devices.
- Please note: Customers may experience a 1XRTT data connection during this time.
- After determining the cause of our 4G LTE network connection issue, we are continuing to work to restore connections.
- We expect to see the network restore on a market-by-market basis. Timing and additional details will be provided as they become available.
UPDATE: Verizon just tweeted that it has identified the problem with 4G service and is working on repairing it now.
EARLIER: Verizon's 4G network is still down after experiencing problems yesterday, shutting out around 500,000.
In a tweet, Verizon said it is aware of the outage, and is working on a fix.
Right now there's only one 4G phone, the HTC Thunderbolt, that can run on the network. (That changes tomorrow with the release of Samsung's DROID Charge.)
There's also a 4G wifi hotspot and two USB modems.
Thunderbolt owners are reporting that their phones are only running at "1x," which is slower than 3G.
We'll let you know as soon as Verizon says the network is up and running again.

Comment on Verizon CEO Says Next iPhone Will Be a “Global Device” by HD Boy
Verizon’s statement does not contain the words "next iPhone." Rather, it says, "...when a new device from Aple is launched, whenever that may be..."
You've manufactured what may well be a false, sensationalistic headline by injecting the word "next" into a story when he really seemed to be inferring "future."

Now You Can Buy Samsung's Galaxy Tab For Just $200 From Verizon And Sprint
The Samsung Galaxy Tab is now only $199.99 if you buy it with a two-year 3G contract from either Verizon or Sprint.
The Galaxy Tab is seven inches and is still running Android 2.2 Froyo (which isn't optimized for tablets like Honeycomb), but this is still an excellent price for anyone looking for an affordable, portable tablet.
T-Mobile and AT&T are still selling the Tab for $250 and $550, respectively. However, AT&T does not require you to sign a two-year data contract.
But if you're serious about getting an Android tablet, we suggest waiting for Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 and 8.9 this summer. Both are thinner and lighter than the iPad 2, and will run Honeycomb. You can expect pricing to be similar to the iPad, so around $600 for the 32 GB model.

Verizon: No, We're Not Going To Buy Sprint (VZ, S, T)
Verizon Wireless CEO Daniel Mead says Verizon isn't going to buy Sprint, despite speculation to the contrary after AT&T announced it will acquire T-Mobile for $39 billion.
"We don't need them," he said. Sorry bankers!
He said Verizon Wireless's goal is to be the most profitable operator, not the biggest, which makes some sense.
He also said (surprise) that Verizon will fight the T-Mobile deal in Washington. So maybe that's the reason why he doesn't want to buy Sprint: he thinks he won't have to.
Another likely reason: Verizon getting the iPhone was a big impetus behind the deal. So maybe he's just looking forward to watching his biggest competitor focus for several years on first getting the deal through antitrust for a year and then integrating the two companes, instead of focusing on the business.
