Comment on Meet Alfred, A New Launcher App for the Mac by Josh Sunshine
Gmail was in beta once upon a time, and for a long time, too. I'm sure nobody avoided it just because of the 'beta' label.
Just like Gmail was, Alfred is stable and well-supported. There's no need to "turn and run", because like ablackonamac mentioned, Alfred is free, and you only pay if you want to. There's no commitment and you don't lose anything in the unlikely event that Alfred collapses before version 1.0.
