Zuckerberg Surprised That People Are Surprised He’s On Google+

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg joining Google+ was a major media event, with everyone from Forbes to The Daily Mail covering the fact that the founder established a Google+ profile, building Circles that include former Facebooker Dustin Moskovitz and current Facebook CTO Bret Taylor. While many were doubtful that the real Zuckerberg would join a competing social service, tech blogger Robert Scoble texted Zuckerberg himself to confirm, tweeting out "Name drop moment. Zuckerberg just texted me back. Says "Why are people so surprised that I'd have a Google account?"

Looks like he's checking out the competition.

Mark Zuckerberg: Facebook Is Going To "Launch Something Awesome" Next Week

Google+? That's so this week.

Get ready for something "awesome" from the only social network that matters.

Mark Zuckerberg told reporters Facebook is "launch something awesome" next week.

He didn't reveal much else, but if we had to guess it would be an iPad app.

However, Zuckerberg said whatever it is that is being revealed was made in its new Seattle office.

Here's How Mark Zuckerberg Built Facebook Into A $50+ Billion Company

Bloomberg TV aired a "Game Changers" episode about Mark Zuckerberg on Tuesday night.

The one-hour documentary offered an excellent look inside the making of Facebook, featuring interviews with many of the key players (although Zuckerberg himself "declined to participate.")

Part of Bloomberg's description:

"From rarely seen footage shot on location inside the company's corporate headquarters in 2005, to interviews with billionaire technology investor Yuri Milner and former Chief Privacy Officer Chris Kelly, Bloomberg Television examines Zuckerberg's fast track from geeky computer science student to CEO, and looks at what could lie ahead for the $50 billion privately held company."

We watched the show and picked out some of the best parts. We tried to focus on lesser known facts

Mark Zuckerberg On The Facebook IPO

Mark Zuckerberg at the eG8 Forum in Paris was asked by Publicis Groupe CEO Maurice Lévy whether Facebook was going to IPO soon, and he said "not yet." 

He also made a few other interesting points:

• He thinks the next industry to get huge on Facebook after games is music, and after that movies.

Asked about Facebook's role in the upheaval in the Middle East, he played down Facebook's impact significantly, saying "My own opinion is that it would be incredibly arrogant for any technology company to claim any significant role in this." It was great because it was both 1- a way to reassure Chinese leaders as Facebook tries to get a toehold there; 2- a swipe at Twitter, which likes to gloat about its alleged role in the uprisings.

Sounding almost like Eric Schmidt, he said that Facebook isn't a monopoly, that MySpace was once bigger than them and they beat them and the internet is very competitive. Read: don't regulate us!

He clarified that Facebook has no plans to let children under 13 sign up.

300 million people use Facebook on mobile; the mobile web version of Facebook has way more users than the iOS or Android apps. 

But the best moment by far came after the interview, once Zuck was off the stage. Lévy didn't realize his mic was still on and muttered to himself: "I'm an old fart who doesn't understand the internet."
