Apple Announces Oct. 4 Iphone Event
Apple has officially announced its iPhone event, to be held on Oct. 4 as previously reported. The event will take place at Apple's Cupertino Campus in California, beginning at 10 AM Pacific (1 PM Eastern), according to press invitations issued by Apple on Tuesday.

Developers Go Nuts Over Upcoming Google Event (GOOG)
Google engineering VP Vic Gundotra just posted on Twitter that Google I/O 2011, the company's annual conference for developers, has sold out in less than an hour.
It took Google 50 days to sell all the seats for last year's conference, and 90 days to sell it out in 2009.
The quick sellout shows a ton of developer interest in Google's platforms, particularly Android. Gundotra demonstrated a lot of upcoming Android features at last year's event, but some of them -- like the online music service that let users buy a song once to get it on multiple devices -- are still MIA.
The conference takes place on May 10 and 11 at Moscone Center in San Francisco and SAI will be there live.

Event Management made easier with Eventzilla
A recent and a more general web surfing activity of mine lead me into encountering a unique, quick & simple, and a very inexpensive online start-up firm named Eventzilla. I say unique, because it is a service that was never before thought of and one which could help event management firms save a lot of time. I say, quick & simple because unlike other online services, this website enables event organizers to take very little lead time and complications in availing event management solutions. I say, very inexpensive because there are very few or no online services existing that cost as reasonable as Eventzilla.

No Tweeting Allowed for President Bill Clinton's Keynote at Salesforce.com Event
The unusual notice came to us today from The Outcast Agency, the public relations firm that represents Salesforce.com.
Here's the full text of the message from Outcast:

"PLEASE NOTE: President Clinton's representatives have mandated that there be absolutely no reporting during his session. That includes live blogging, Tweeting, Facebook posting or use of any other social media. We understand the inconvenience this may present, but greatly appreciate your compliance. Thank you."
No word yet why Clinton's handlers have mandated no reporting during the keynote.
Sameer Patel, an analyst in the enterprise space expressed the curiosity and wonder that many have had about the news. He tweeted: "Wow, Pres Clinton's handlers have mandated NO live reporting blogging, tweeting during his #sfdc #dreamforce keynote. #really??"
We go to these user conferences quite a bit. The tweet stream is always thick with commentary about the keynote. Never have we been asked not to tweet, post to Facebook or live blog.
Neither General Colin Powell nor Vice President Al Gore prohibited reporting from their keynotes at user conferences we have attended. Powell spoke at Dreamforce last year.
It also seems counter to the message about the power of social technologies that Salesforce.com has been focusing on for the past year.
Salesforce.com launched Chatter, its microblogging tool, last year at Dreamforce. Since then, the company has repeatedly shown its commitment to embracing social technologies.
We know that this is not a Salesforce.com decision. It's the Clinton team that is making the demand.
But regardless it seems odd and a bit chilling. What do you think? And how do you think they will try to stop it? Even if they cut off the wifi, people can use their mobile devices or connect with data cards.
On another note, Stevie Wonder and Neil Young are performing at Dreamforce. Now that will be worth tweeting about.
