Comment on Google Places iPhone App Now Available by Mike Perry

Places is useful, but it'd be more useful if it cached data (at least on my 3G). Check for restaurants, and it takes 15-20 seconds to load the data over WiFi. Check for coffee shops and it takes about the same time. Then check restaurants again and everything must reload via cellular or WiFi. That's unnecessary and can be a nuisance when you're in a hurry. Places should cache the last few items checked. It also needs a way to find and store a location, so you can check a spot before you get there. All in all, it's a good start, but only a start.
