Here's A Leaked Internal Microsoft Video Making Fun Of Gmail For Reading All Your Emails (MSFT, GOOG)

Microsoft made the following video spoofing Google's Gmail for its Microsoft Global Exchange (MGX) event, which is a gather of its salesforce.

ZDNet's Mary Jo Foley got it from an attendee, and while Microsoft hasn't officially commented, it looks real -- it has the "Contoso" brand that Microsoft uses in a lot of its demos. (Microsoft actually owns the copyright so nobody else can use that name.)

This ad isn't airing publicly and is not meant for official distribution -- it's really just to fire up the troops -- but it is a little bit misleading.

The video shows the "Gmail Man" reading through people's letters looking for keywords to serve up ads. This is what the personal version of Gmail does.

However businesses can turn the ads off -- that's one of the things businesses get by paying for Google Apps. So there's really no advantage for Microsoft's Office 365 here.

LEAKED PHOTO: Is This Google's Next Nexus Phone? (GOOG)

A leaked photo of what is supposedly a test model of Google's next Nexus phone started circulating today after the blog Tech Hog claims to have snagged it from an inside source.

The photo has since been removed from Tech Hog, but we managed to snag a copy here.

The phone has no room for the four home keys found on other phones, which leads us to believe the next version of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich, will have on-screen controls.

It's highly unlikely this is the final model of the Nexus 3, but Tech Hog said in its original post it was being developed by HTC. (HTC developed the original Nexus One phone.)

Leaked Emails From Google Show How Important Location Data Is To Android (GOOG)

The San Jose Mercury News landed some leaked emails from Google CEO Larry Page, as well as other top Google executives, which show how important gathering location data is for its mobile plans.

Last year, Motorola, one of Google's biggest mobile partners, was planning on using Skyhook Wireless's location data for its handsets over Google's location data.

The Mercury News says that when Page read about Motorola's decision to use a "competitor's" location service -- we're guessing it was Skyhook -- he pasted the article in an email to top executives at Google and asked, "Can I get a response on this?"

The Mercury News says "a detailed memo" was quickly sent back to Page, with Android boss Andy Rubin writing, location data from mobile phones was "extremely valuable to Google," because it was having trouble getting the data via its Street View cars.

Google's Street View cars were busted for gathering data from unsecured wifi networks. That blow up made it more challenging for Google to build a location database driving around and collecting data from wifi networks.

To build its location network, it would have to rely more heavily on Android phones. But if its partners weren't going to use Google's location technology, that would be much more difficult.

Google location product manager Steve Lee wrote to Larry Page, "I cannot stress enough how important Google's wifi location database is to our Android and mobile product strategy ... We absolutely do care about this (decision by Motorola) because we need wifi data collection in order to maintain and improve our wifi location service."

Skyhook is currently suing Google saying it unfairly blocked Motorola from using Skyhook's services.

Adobe Just Leaked The News About Google's Next Android Announcement (ADBE, GOOG)

Flash for Honeycomb tablets got an update to version 10.2, allowing for faster web video.

But the real news comes from the update's description, where it hints at being compatible with Honeycomb version 3.1. They current version of Honeycomb is 3.0, so we assume that means a tablet update is on the way.

From the brief description provided by we know that Honeycomb 3.1 will allow for hardware accelerated video. That means your tablet's processor and hardware will be used to make streaming videos run faster and smoother. The new version of Flash will also work better with Honeycomb's new browser.
